Personal, Hand-Written Letter from Eubie Blake - Jan 2, 1970

Personal, Hand-Written Letter from Eubie Blake - Jan 2, 1970

Two-page letter handwritten by legendary ragtime piano player, singer, and composer Eubie Blake. Dated Jan 2nd, 1970, and written on Blake's personal stationery with the ASCAP logo on the first page and a caricature of Blake (in the style of Al Hirschfeld) and his name at the top of page 2. In the charming letter, Blake refers to the theft of his hi-fi tape recorder, some pending speaking engagements, the fact that he is one of the 3 oldest living ASCAP members, and his upcoming 89th birthday. While the letter is primarily in blue ink, Blake has written a song titles, 3 names, and ASCAP (once misspelled) in red. Just lovely. D103
